Lateral Epicondylitis

This is an inflammation of the area where a muscle group attaches to the elbow. It may be caused by overuse, but generally its cause is unknown. Symptoms include pain in the elbow or proximal (link) forearm and possibly some weakness. X-rays are often taken to evaluate any possible bony abnormalities in the area. Treatment consists of ice, immobilization, a course of anti-inflammatory medication and possibly a steroid injection to alleviate the symptoms of this persistent malady.
